Workshop format

Our Explorer Workshops are run by our professionally trained workshop leaders who are fully-trained, working actors. Each session is created around the particular theme or subject you choose. The format varies but in general there will be:

  • A short introduction by the workshop leader, introducing the theme/subject as well as themselves.
  • A series of ‘ice breaker games’ and a physical warm-up to help the group connect, focus and be physically ready for an exciting adventure.
  • An immersive and imaginative journey through the chosen topic, for example, you might take an imaginary time capsule back in time for a history topic.
  • Improvisation, role play, hot seating and various other drama techniques to deliver information and key facts.
  • Originally written Perform songs or raps that are also great to use within the classroom for follow-up work.
  • A ten question recap and cool down to finish.

Bella was amazing. She had brilliant control of the children and included everyone. The content of the workshop was great including the song and rap (which I cant get out my head now!) Thanks again!

– Lizzie Davey

The enthusiasm of Laura was great! She was knowledgeable about the topic area and the children enjoyed their journey through time learning about historical figures.

– Ms. L Thomas

Sally was totally engaging. Children were hooked right from the start of her workshop and the energy and enthusiasm with which she delivered the sessions was infectious. I was particularly impressed how she was able to mix key scientific facts with imaginative drama elements.

– William Power - Manorfield Primary School

I would like to compliment you for yet another fantastic workshop. Both the children and staff had lots of positives to share with me about the days workshop.

– Ms. S Mohamed

Children engaged in lesson and remember the key messages from the workshop Zip it! Block it! Flag it! They really enjoyed it! Highly recommended.

– Mr L Jobson

Rachel was very enthusiastic and fantastic with the girls. All three year groups said it was engaging, great fun and would love to have more workshops like this.

– Ms. V Fabre De La Grange

Claire led a very informative workshop and the children took home the message that she taught them. They particularly like the poem!

– Mrs N Payne

Extremely well organised, fun and energetic. Children were immersed from the moment they stepped into the room and loved every minute of it. Natalie had a kind and enthusiastic manner when working with the children

– Ms. J Soltau

All of our children participated and thoroughly enjoyed the experience which they used in their creative diary entry the following day!

– Mrs S Reardon

Thank you Natalie (and Perform for schools) for more great drama workshops - they are enjoyed so much by the children and we are always so impressed with the quality of the teaching and content. We look forward to booking more soon!
