Workshop format

Our Explorer Workshops are run by our professionally trained workshop leaders who are fully-trained, working actors. Each session is created around the particular theme or subject you choose. The format varies but in general there will be:

  • A short introduction by the workshop leader, introducing the theme/subject as well as themselves.
  • A series of ‘ice breaker games’ and a physical warm-up to help the group connect, focus and be physically ready for an exciting adventure.
  • An immersive and imaginative journey through the chosen topic, for example, you might take an imaginary time capsule back in time for a history topic.
  • Improvisation, role play, hot seating and various other drama techniques to deliver information and key facts.
  • Originally written Perform songs or raps that are also great to use within the classroom for follow-up work.
  • A ten question recap and cool down to finish.

Please thank Charlotte for the fantastic delivery of our three workshops! Our Year 2’s has a wonderful time and the sessions helped them consolidate their learning in an active way!

– Miss S Weld

Children engaged in lesson and remember the key messages from the workshop Zip it! Block it! Flag it! They really enjoyed it! Highly recommended.

– Mr L Jobson

The children thoroughly enjoyed their workshops with Hannah. It was pitched at a great level for our Year Two classes and Hannah's energy and interaction with the children was fabulous. Thank you Hannah for bringing our Pirate Wow day to life!

– Ms. H Dean

Eleanor was fantastic! Full of energy, enthusiasm and engaged with the children. The session had good pace and the content of the activities were age appropriate and perfectly linked to the topic. The children continued their learning beyond the session which demonstrated that they really enjoyed it.

– Ms. A Kempson

The sessions were very enjoyable and the children really responded well to Miranda's enthusiastic delivery. She was energetic and managed to fit a lot of e-safety information in 50 minutes! All of the staff said that the children had learnt a great deal about e-safety issues from the sessions.

– Mrs A Farrell

The children all thoroughly enjoyed the workshops and the level of engagement was very high. Our staff were delighted with Victoria and would highly recommend her to others.

Thank you for a great morning at our school.

– Jo Heath

Great to see how the workshops are suitably adapted to the different age groups. It was an excellent starting point for a weeks work on Shakespeare.

– Jackie Olcot - Loudwater Combined

Sarah was amazing with the girls and the activities that she did with each year level, were engaging and age appropriate. Our girls loved them!

– Ms. M Cipriani

The children enjoyed all of the activities, particularly using their imaginations to act out the story of The Snail and the Whale. They loved learning about opposites and teamwork, and used their listening skills to recreate freeze frames.

– Miss J Smith

The children had the best time and it was absolutely brilliant. Hannah's enthusiasm and energy is inspiring - at the end I had my own children joining in.
