Workshop format

Our Explorer Workshops are run by our professionally trained workshop leaders who are fully-trained, working actors. Each session is created around the particular theme or subject you choose. The format varies but in general there will be:

  • A short introduction by the workshop leader, introducing the theme/subject as well as themselves.
  • A series of ‘ice breaker games’ and a physical warm-up to help the group connect, focus and be physically ready for an exciting adventure.
  • An immersive and imaginative journey through the chosen topic, for example, you might take an imaginary time capsule back in time for a history topic.
  • Improvisation, role play, hot seating and various other drama techniques to deliver information and key facts.
  • Originally written Perform songs or raps that are also great to use within the classroom for follow-up work.
  • A ten question recap and cool down to finish.

I would like to compliment you for yet another fantastic workshop. Both the children and staff had lots of positives to share with me about the days workshop.

– Ms. S Mohamed

Chloe's enthusiasm definitely helped to engage the children in the very important message that she was teaching. They really enjoyed the sessions and had a lot to say during the feedback lesson in class after the workshops.

– Ms. N Moynihan

Bethany has great enthusiasm with the children and stayed in character the whole session. The children learnt lots about the seaside in the Victorian era and had fun whilst doing so. Highly recommended!

– Ms. K Rogers

All the children loved the workshop, Emily was amazing at transforming herself into different characters that brought the topic alive.

– Penny Macfarlane - Longacre School

Ceridwen was great with the children. They really enjoyed the session and were enthralled with the story told.

– Nicky Roberts - Blackheath High School

Laura was super enthusiastic and the children responded well to her. She had to teach 3 workshops back to back and showed fantastic energy from beginning to end. The activities that the girls completed were relevant to the topic, enjoyable and helpful to support the learning of their topic. We will be using Perform to support other topics next academic year.

– Ms. R Mackarell

Maria was bubbly and positive and the children responded well to that. She recognised certain challenging behaviours in our children and adapted instantly. Our children had a fantastic morning.

– Sophie Artoonian

Chloe was really engaging the children loved it. She kept them intrigued just by her voice and there was a good mix of activities. The pace was good, as was her use of questions. Overall, really good. The children really enjoyed it.

– Ms. R Sutcliffe

The session was pitched at the perfect level and all the children were engaged through out. All members of staff were impressed with what the children have remembered from the workshop.

– Ms. H Crawford

We are thoroughly enjoyed the workshop. Sam was fantastic. Highly recommend.
