Workshop format

Our Explorer Workshops are run by our professionally trained workshop leaders who are fully-trained, working actors. Each session is created around the particular theme or subject you choose. The format varies but in general there will be:

  • A short introduction by the workshop leader, introducing the theme/subject as well as themselves.
  • A series of ‘ice breaker games’ and a physical warm-up to help the group connect, focus and be physically ready for an exciting adventure.
  • An immersive and imaginative journey through the chosen topic, for example, you might take an imaginary time capsule back in time for a history topic.
  • Improvisation, role play, hot seating and various other drama techniques to deliver information and key facts.
  • Originally written Perform songs or raps that are also great to use within the classroom for follow-up work.
  • A ten question recap and cool down to finish.

Thank you to Joanna for making our World Book Day! Both children and staff were engaged and excited by the sessions. Joanna was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and professional. We have used Perform before and will definitely use them again.

– Miss. H Matthews

Please pass on our thanks to India for working hard with all the classes. She was very enthusiastic and the children all enjoyed participating. She observed social distancing and I would be happy to recommend.

– Ms. L Downes

The children all thoroughly enjoyed the workshops and the level of engagement was very high. Our staff were delighted with Victoria and would highly recommend her to others.

Thank you for a great morning at our school.

– Jo Heath

The children really enjoyed the session. They seemed to be really engaged on the topic of internet safety and really understood what it meant. They all did some lovely performances.

– Ms. K Rogers

Caitlin was professional and her workshops were extremely well-received by the staff and children alike. The children particularly love the opportunity for drama. Thank you!

– Ms. S Alcock

The sessions were very enjoyable and the children really responded well to Miranda's enthusiastic delivery. She was energetic and managed to fit a lot of e-safety information in 50 minutes! All of the staff said that the children had learnt a great deal about e-safety issues from the sessions.

– Mrs A Farrell

Lauren was really inspiring both for children and teachers. All workshops were pitched well and we all thoroughly enjoyed the morning. Thank you!

– Ms. S Salerno

Katie was fantastic. Even over Zoom. She really brought the topic to life. The children in class loved it and I could see the children at home were enjoying themselves too.

– Mr D Parris

I was impressed particularly with the high level of vocabulary used. Zelia did not 'talk down' to the children at all. Great active workshop, especially the group work needed to create the dinosaur shapes.

– Jane Robson - The Hill Primary

All the teachers thought Pamela was brilliant with the children and able to bring it to their level well. All the children really loved the experience and we have had lovely feedback from the parents as the children went home talking about it.
