Perform 7-12 child

How to play

1. Introduce the challenge

Explain to your child that the aim is to project their voice clearly across the room.

2. Begin with a short phrase

Ask your child to call out:

"Hey!"

3. Build the phrase

Gradually make the phrase longer:

  • "Hey you!"
  • "Hey you there!"
  • "Hey you there, stop!"

4. Encourage projection

Ask your child to speak loudly and clearly enough for their voice to reach you across the room.

5. Increase the challenge

Move further away and ask them to repeat the phrase, keeping their voice strong and clear.

6. Focus on clarity

Remind your child that every word should stay easy to hear and understand, even as the phrase gets longer.

What it teaches

  • Voice projection
  • Clear diction
  • Confidence speaking aloud
  • Breath support
  • Performance energy
  • Communication skills

Variations to try

  • Try different phrases with the same build-up pattern.
  • Move further apart to make projection more challenging.
  • Add different emotions, such as excitement, surprise or urgency.

Principal's notes

Encourage your child to project rather than shout or tighten their throat. This game helps them feel the difference between forcing volume and using a strong, supported voice.
