By sharing kind words and introducing others positively, they build confidence, empathy and communication skills.
1. Begin moving
Put on some upbeat music and move around the room together.
2. Stop and choose someone
When the music stops, ask your child to think of someone they know well, such as a family member, friend or teacher.
3. Think of something kind
Encourage your child to think of something positive to say about that person.
4. Model an example
Give an example of how to introduce someone positively.
For example:
"This is Matt. He's really good at helping people."
5. Talk about why
Ask your child why they chose that compliment and what makes that quality special.
6. Choose someone new
Pick another person your child knows and think of something kind to say about them.
Children often enjoy hearing positive things said about themselves which helps build confidence and group connection. Encourage compliments about personality and behaviour as well as appearance. This activity creates a lovely supportive atmosphere within the class.
