At Perform Colchester at Kingsland Church, our focus is not about teaching rigorous techniques, memorisation and repetition to produce a 'perfect performance'. Instead, we use drama-based games, exercises, songs and dances in an imaginative and fun way to help boost child development.

We started running classes at Kingsland Church in January 2020 and are currently here every week during term-time on Fridays.

At Perform Colchester, the Producer of the classes is Charlotte and the Teacher is Jasmine. The sessions are looked after by our Area Partner, Sophie.

The current term runs from 4th September to 18th December with no sessions on 30th October (half-term).

How to get here and parking:

To reach the venue by car, exit the main bypass (A12) at the Stanway junction, follow Cymbeline Way (A133) or Lexden Road into Lexden, and turn onto London Road.

Dedicated on-site car parking is available directly at the church centre for visitors, including designated accessible parking spaces.

Colchester Town and Colchester North railway stations are a short bus ride or taxi journey away. Regular local bus routes stop along London Road right near the venue.

I've been producing classes with Perform since 2024. I love using my experience as an actor to develop children's confidence through performing arts, and I love watching them shine in class! Outside of Perform, I love going to the cinema to watch movies.

AREA PARTNER

Sophie

I'm a Perform Teacher, Producer and Area Partner. I trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and alongside working for Perform have appeared in many television programmes for the BBC and Channel 4. Recently, I've been in several of the Perform shows in the West End! What I love about teaching for Perform is seeing how much children change during their time with us. It is a joy to see children having so much fun as they are learning!
