At Perform Hampstead at Royal Free Hospital Recreation Club, our focus is not about teaching rigorous techniques, memorisation and repetition to produce a 'perfect performance'. Instead, we use drama-based games, exercises, songs and dances in an imaginative and fun way to help boost child development.

We started running classes at Royal Free Hospital Recreation Club in September 2012 and are currently here every week during term-time on Wednesdays.

At Perform Hampstead, the Producer of the classes is Aled and the Teacher is Joy. The sessions are looked after by our Area Partner, Gemma.

The current term runs from 2nd September to 16th December with no sessions on 28th October (half-term).

How to get here and parking:

When travelling by car from Finchley Road (A41), turn onto Rosslyn Hill (A502) towards Hampstead, then turn right onto Pond Street and continue directly onto Fleet Road.

There is no on-site visitor parking at the club. Nearby pay-and-display on-street parking and hospital car parks are available, subject to local restrictions.

Hampstead Heath Overground station and Belsize Park Underground station are a short walk away. Local bus services stop directly along Fleet Road.

We spend a lot of time recruiting, training and evaluating our wonderful Area Partners, Producers and Teachers and the team at Royal Free Hospital Recreation Club in Hampstead are no exception. As at all Perform schools, they have all been hand-picked for being enthusiastic, approachable and, of course, fantastic with children. PRODUCER

Aled

I'm from South Wales originally; I came to London to train in musical theatre after receiving a scholarship to train at the Urdang Academy. I adore sharing my expertise with budding new actors and to work on confidence with my children in a fun, safe environment. Outside of Perform, I often sing in concerts with my Welsh language choir "Cor Llundain" and will beat anyone in Mario Kart!

TEACHER

Joy

My name is Joy and I have been a Teacher at Perform since 2021. I love watching so many of my students grow in confidence and I am always so moved to see their progress through the terms! Playing games and singing our very catchy songs with them is my favorite part of the job, although I have really enjoyed playing a sassy French ballerina in Midnight in the Toyshop too!

AREA PARTNER

Gemma

I'm one of the Perform Area Partners. I'm so lucky to meet so many wonderful Perform children when I visit different classes and watching their confidence blossom throughout their time with us. My background is musical theatre and I have performed in many different shows in the West End and in theatres around the UK. During my time in Les Miserables, I got to sing at the European football final at Wembley and the 25th anniversary concert at the O2!
