1. Form a semi-circle
Ask the children to stand in a semi-circle and explain that they are all "super fans" of whoever steps forward to speak.
2. Tell the story
Invite one child to step into the middle and tell a real or imaginary story. Encourage the other children to react enthusiastically with cheers, gasps, applause and excited encouragement.
3. Swap storytellers
Allow different children to take turns being the storyteller while the rest of the group continues to be their enthusiastic super fans. Encourage everyone to support and celebrate each storyteller.
This activity creates a wonderfully supportive performance environment where children feel celebrated while speaking. Encourage the audience to react enthusiastically but respectfully. The positive energy often helps quieter children become much more confident.
