By paying close attention and waiting for the right moment to react, they develop observation skills, patience and self-control.
1. Sit together
Sit comfortably facing your child.
2. Explain the challenge
Tell your child they need to focus on you and watch very carefully.
3. Introduce the wink
Explain that when you wink at them, they must quietly lie down or close their eyes and pretend to fall asleep.
4. Begin the game
Look around the room or away from your child, then turn back and secretly give them a wink.
5. Encourage observation
Challenge your child to watch closely and react only when they spot the wink.
6. Repeat the game
Continue with more rounds, changing the timing of the wink to keep them concentrating.
This activity works particularly well for calming and settling a group. Encourage children to remain quiet and still throughout the game. The slower pace helps children practice sustained concentration and visual focus.
