Jade Clifford - Perform Hove parent

At Perform Hove at Cornerstone Community Centre, our focus is not about teaching rigorous techniques, memorisation and repetition to produce a 'perfect performance'. Instead, we use drama-based games, exercises, songs and dances in an imaginative and fun way to help boost child development.

We started running classes at Cornerstone Community Centre in September 2010 and are currently here every week during term-time on Fridays and Saturdays.

At Perform Hove, the Producers of the classes are David and Mylo and the Teachers are David and William. The sessions are looked after by our Area Partner, Gemma.

The current term runs from 4th September to 18th December with no sessions on 30th October (half-term).

How to get here and parking:

Drivers can reach the venue via Kingsway (A259) along the seafront or Kingsway/Old Shoreham Road (A270), turning onto Grand Avenue or First Avenue towards Church Road.

On-road parking is available, as well as at Aston Road car park, under the cricket grounds.

Hove railway station is approximately a ten-minute walk away. Frequent local buses run directly along Church Road, stopping right near the entrance at Palmeira Square.

We spend a lot of time recruiting, training and evaluating our wonderful Area Partners, Producers and Teachers and the team at Cornerstone Community Centre in Hove are no exception. As at all Perform schools, they have all been hand-picked for being enthusiastic, approachable and, of course, fantastic with children. PRODUCER

David

I've been producing classes with Perform since 2017. I'm an experienced children's theatre actor, having toured major theatres across the UK and internationally. I've played some of the most popular children's characters in TV and literature, including Daddy Pig from Peppa Pig and Elmer the Patchwork Elephant. I love having the opportunity to inspire children and use my theatrical skills to help them develop their confidence as well as have the most fun every single week.

PRODUCER

Mylo

I am an actor-musician and performing arts tutor based in Brighton. I have been producing classes with Perform since September 2025 and from the off I have been impressed by the creativity on display from the children I teach. Watching their faces light up as we embark on our adventures is a particular highlight of mine!

TEACHER

David

I've been producing and teach classes with Perform since 2020. I love to inspire children to be their most creative and confident selves, which I often aim to achieve by being the silliest person in the room myself! My favourite week of term is always show week, as I am consistently filled with pride to see the amazing things the children have achieved and how wonderfully they have progressed. Outside of Perform, I am also a piano teacher and a huge animal lover.

AREA PARTNER

Gemma

I've been producing classes with Perform since 2011. I love using my experience as an actor to inspire and teach children. It is magical to see how much the children grow in confidence through laughter and play at Perform. Outside of Perform I am a Mum of two beautiful children and I love heading to the beach with them for a relaxing day of sun, sea and sand!
