Hello from Perform Hempstead at Hempstead Valley Community Centre. Here at Perform, we embrace the uniqueness of every child, offering a distinctive blend of drama, dance and singing to unlock their true potential.

We started running classes at Hempstead Valley Community Centre in October 2015 and are currently here every week during term-time on Wednesdays.

At Perform Hempstead, the Producer of the classes is Ila and the Teacher is Matthew. The sessions are looked after by our Area Partner, Oliver.

The current term runs from 2nd September to 16th December with no sessions on 28th October (half-term).

How to get here and parking:

To reach the venue by car, leave the motorway (M2) at junction 4 and follow Hoath Way (A278), then turn onto Hempstead Valley Drive into the shopping centre complex.

Park in the red car park within the shopping centre (next to the restaurant complex). Then follow signs for the management office.

Rainham and Gillingham train stations are a short taxi ride away. Local buses, such as route 132 from Chatham and Rainham, stop directly at the centre.

We spend a lot of time recruiting, training and evaluating our wonderful Area Partners, Producers and Teachers and the team at Hempstead Valley Community Centre in Hempstead are no exception. As at all Perform schools, they have all been hand-picked for being enthusiastic, approachable and, of course, fantastic with children. As a result, you can be confident that your child is in the best of hands. Here are the details of the Creative Team at this venue:

PRODUCER

Ila

I've been producing classes for Perform since 2007! I have a degree in Drama and Theatre Arts and it's such a joy being able to use my knowledge and passion to help children confidently express themselves. When I'm not running Perform classes, I'm busy looking after my own children and enjoying trips to the theatre.

TEACHER

Matthew

I've been teaching for Perform since 2018, in that time I've loved seeing the classes I've taught grow in confidence and performance skills. I also love getting to become all the colourful characters we meet in our adventures and games. When I'm not teaching for Perform, I work as a professional actor. My favourite time of year is Christmas when I play the Conductor on The Polar Express in Norfolk and get to spend the season hanging out with the real Santa!

AREA PARTNER

Oliver

Hi, I'm Oli! I've been with Perform since 2012 and work as an Area Partner, as well as running my own classes. Outside of Perform, I produce theatre shows and work in artist and live event management. Children have an incredible ability to find joy in the world around them, and that's one of the things I love most about my job. As an Area Partner, it's a privilege to support and develop our Teachers, helping even more children celebrate their individuality and discover what they're capable of.
