Perform 7-12 child

How to play

1. Set the task

Pair up two children to improvise a conversation. Each new sentence must begin with the next letter of the alphabet.

2. An example of a conversation could be:

A: "Are you coming to the concert?"

B: "Better believe it."

C: "Can we leave early though?"

D: "Definitely."

3. Keep it going

Encourage the pair to continue until they reach Z or can no longer keep the sequence moving!

What it teaches

  • Alphabetical sequencing
  • Improvisation
  • Verbal fluency
  • Listening

Variations to try

  • Use three children in the scenario instead of two.
  • Use a prop or scene setting (for example, an airport, jungle or dentist) to get their imaginations running.

Principal's notes

A wonderfully simple yet effective game that makes the alphabet fun again. Some children will naturally be faster than others, so encourage them all to keep going and not worry if they slip a letter.
