It builds spatial awareness, adaptability and group coordination while encouraging communication, problem-solving and cooperation.
The challenge of beating their own time creates excitement and a shared sense of achievement for the whole group.
1. Make a circle
Ask the children to make a circle and time how long it takes. Expect some playful chaos at first.
2. Set the challenge
Tell the group how long it took and challenge them to do it faster.
3. Go signal
Ask the children to spread out.
On your signal of "Go!", they must run and quickly form a circle together.
4. Repeat
Announce the time and repeat the challenge, encouraging teamwork and efficiency.
4. Change the shape
Once they can form a circle quickly, challenge them to make other shapes, such as a line or a blob.
This is one of my go-to games for building teamwork and cooperation. Children love racing against the clock, and you can really see their problem-solving improve as they get quicker and more efficient. It's a simple way to teach collaboration and focus, and it always creates a sense of achievement when they beat their own record.
