Child development / Drama games / Double o seven

In this spy-themed movement game, children take on secret missions to follow a target without being noticed.

The children choose someone to track, moving casually around the space to avoid giving away their cover!

The game builds focus, stealth and observation skills while keeping the suspense high.

It's a calm-energy game perfect for building concentration and self-control, with a strong storytelling hook that children love.

How to play

1. Find a space

Ask each child to stand in their own space around the room.

2. What is a spy?

Ask the group: "Do you know what a spy is?" and "What kinds of things do spies do?"

Let them imagine secret missions and disguises.

3. Set the mission

Explain that, "Each of you must secretly choose one person to follow. But don't tell anyone and don't let them know you're following them!"

"For example, I've secretly chosen to follow Tom. But when I walk around the room, I'll do it very casually, so Tom has no idea I'm watching him!"

4. Begin the mission

Play upbeat, energetic music. Let the children walk around the space, eyes on their target, trying to stay sneaky and unnoticed.

5. Pause and reflect

Stop the music and ask: "Does anyone think they know who was following them?"

Let a few children guess and reveal.

6. Repeat the game

Encourage the children to choose a different target and play again.

What it teaches

  • Focus and observation - watching closely and staying alert
  • Spatial awareness - moving carefully through a shared space
  • Self-control - staying quiet and avoiding detection
  • Imaginative roleplay - stepping into a secret agent character
  • Memory and movement - tracking someone while remaining unseen

Variations to try

  • Double agent: Choose two people to follow at once
  • Reverse spy: Try to figure out who's following you
  • Freeze agent: If you spot your spy, freeze and point - if you're right, they're out!
