By guessing who is speaking and experimenting with different voices, children develop listening skills, concentration and creativity.
1. Set up the group
Ask the children to sit together on the floor while you explain the game.
2. Choose the guesser
Select one child to stand at the far end of the classroom with their back turned to the group.
3. Select the speaker
Point silently to another child, who walks up behind the guesser and says, "Good afternoon [guesser's name]. Guess who I am?"
4. Make the guess
Ask the guesser to identify who spoke.
5. Rotate and repeat
Continue with different children taking turns at both speaking and guessing. Encourage using disguise voices such as very low, very high, silly voices or accents to make the game more fun.
This is an excellent activity for encouraging confidence and careful listening. It also feels like a fun mystery game rather than a formal exercise.
