Performing Arts for ALL children

One of things I am proudest of is our Drama4ALL project.

Drama4ALL came about back in 2001 when I was making contact with a local primary school to spread the word about our weekly classes. Visiting the school and chatting to the Head Teacher, I soon became aware that, with staff shortages, budget cuts and a packed curriculum, there was little or no opportunity for children to have a dedicated time to explore the performing arts during the school week.  To remedy this, I started contacting all the schools in Camden offering free drama workshops to all Reception, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 children. Fast forward to today and we now facilitate hundreds of workshops every week in primary schools across the South of England reaching almost 100,000 children every year.

Drama4ALL workshops are based around a specific theme each term and use games, exercises and improvisations to explore ways that drama can help build children's social skills.

All workshops are lead by our many fantastic trained and DBS checked professional actors. The workshops not only provide an ideal introduction to the performing arts but they also are a fun treat for pupils during the school term.

The most wonderful thing about the project is that it opens up the world of performing arts to so many children who would have never tried it before or even considered it as something for them. I have parents call up and say, “I never thought my son would love to dance but he did this at school today with you and he’s desperate to dance now.” Or a class teacher will feedback that a child spoke confidently out loud for the first time when pretending to be the Funky Fairy during a workshop improvisation, for example.

Every day during school term time, Drama4ALL visits about 25 schools. We see this valuable scheme as a part of a wider mission to bring drama and dance to all children and, with education budgets being constantly squeezed, this has never been so important.

If your child’s school has not yet had a Drama4ALL visit, please do get in touch or pass on the details to the school. We would love to hear from them and, providing we have sufficient budget, we will organize to attend the following term. You can find out more about the workshops and this term's Drama4ALL theme on our website.
