Two months

At two months old, babies go into overdrive. You can expect serious growth spurts and weight gain of up to two pounds per month, plus a wealth of little developments -it seemed to me that virtually every day we had a new ‘first‘!

Your baby's getting stronger and whilst they may not be able to support the weight of their own heads just yet, you'll undoubtedly see ‘practise runs' with a few seconds of control at a time. Likewise you'll notice that their movement in general will become smoother and more coordinated as their muscles strengthen.

Your baby's eyesight is also developing - they'll begin to be able to focus on objects and track their movement. Likewise you'll see that your baby is differentiating between sounds, and will sometimes look to see where a particular sound is coming from.

Best of all if you haven't already, you'll shortly be treated to your baby's first real smile. For me it made the sleepless nights and seemingly endless slog of feeding, burping and changing completely worthwhile!

You haven't lost your smile at all, it's right under your nose. You just forgot it was there. - Author unknown.
