Skittles

Help improve your child's coordination and mathematical skills with a game of skittles.

You can buy a set of skittles relatively inexpensively, or if you're feeling a little more creative you can make your own set out of decorated plastic drinks bottles. Simply set up three to begin with and create a ‘throwing' line around one metre away from the skittles. Using a large soft ball (or a pair of rolled up socks) as a bowling ball encourage your child to roll the ball and try to knock the skittles down.

As they knock the skittles down ask them to count how many they have left to knock over. As they get better at the game you can increase the number of skittles and/or move the ‘throwing' line further away from the skittles.
