Noises Off

Help develop your baby's hearing with this game:

Babies have naturally good reflexes when it comes to surprising noises, and this quickly develops into delighting in the different sounds objects make - that's why all those noise-making toys are so popular!

You'll need a few things from around the house which make different noises - e.g. a toy which squeaks, a rattle, paper which make a lovely rustling sound etc.

Demonstrate each sound to your baby in turn and watch their response. Keep the objects varied to keep them interested. You then might like to help them make the noise. At this stage their muscles may not be developed enough to grip the object and do this alone, but over time they'll get there. It's great to watch them as they realise that it's them making the noises!
