The clocks have gone forward, cruelly robbing us of an hour of sleep – but, now the evenings are lighter for longer, I remember why really it’s worth it!
Spring is here – hooray!
Before you know it, Easter will be upon us. Incidentally if you are wondering what to do with your little ones over the Easter break might I suggest a Perform Holiday course?
Right, shameless self promotion over – it’s time for the monthly round up – here are my picks for March 2011:
If you only read one post this month, I urge you to read this one from Domestic Goddesque – Remembering Doesn’t Stop just because it’s not Remembrance Day
Then, head over to Blogger.Ed and check out Humans Suck Sometimes – a reminder that there are people behind those pixels…
Well my lovelies – we’ve made it through January – hurrah!
I always think January is a bit of a shock to the system. Seeing as how the shortest day of the year happens in December I’m prone to kid myself that once we get into January, the Winter’s nearly over.
Clearly, that’s not the case. We’re all still getting up in the dark, coming home in the dark and, after a somewhat warmer spell, we’ve also had another cold snap.
Plus there’s no more Christmas fun and of course I’m back on the dreaded diet. Yuck.
Fortunately, it’s not all doom and gloom – curl up with a lovely cuppa (and maybe a biscuit or two) and check out January’s best bits…
Hello there! Sorry this is so late but I’ve been rushing around like the proverbial blue-bottomed fly getting everything ready for the new term. Meaning that Christmas and New Year are now long gone – but nonetheless…..
The X Factor is done and dusted, the Strictly Glitter Ball trophy has been held triumphantly aloft (we’ve still got Dancing on Ice to come)… so why not settle down with a nice cup of tea and browse through my round up of December bits before they become ancient history.
First up is the very lovely Mostly Yummy Mummy – who shares her bake sale fears and offers up a nifty little solution in On the Seventh Day of Christmas
Next up we’ve Mummy Zen who pulled together a fantastic round up post of tips and ideas for a home-made Christmas in Giving Christmas Presents a Personal Touch – I erm didn’t quite manage to achieve a home-made Christmas this year, but I’ve bookmarked the post for 2011!
Hello again! Can someone tell me where November went? I think I blinked once or twice and then it was over!
And now – well it’s December – which means that Christmas is nearly upon us. So how are you doing? All set? I wish I was, but sadly I seem to once again have broken my promise to myself to have everything done and dusted before 1st December – still there’s always next year, eh?
Before you fling yourself headlong into the party season proper why not take a few minutes to check out my pick of the posts from the parenting blogsophere this month. Hopefully here you’ll find something to make you smile, some inspiration for things to do and perhaps most importantly, something to make you think…
First up is a post from ReadyForTen with an awesome selection of Autumn Recipes – just reading it makes me hungry :)
Then head over to Mostly Yummy Mummy for a very thought-provoking post about Homework – fantastic comments here too.
So how was your October? Hope you all had an amazing Half Term and Halloween!
As usual it’s been all go here so sorry this is about a week late. Am now thinking about Christmas and promising myself that I really will be more organised this year – well here’s hoping!
Now the clocks have gone back and the evenings are a little darker go make yourself a lovely mug of hot chocolate (or possibly something a little stronger!) and check out my my favourite posts from October…
First up from Mediocre Mun – Who’s the Largest Distributor of Toys in the World? – it’s not Hamleys, Toys R Us or Disney – I was shocked at who it was!
Next up a post from A Mother’s Ramblings – (erm actually this was posted in September so I’m ‘fashionably’ late to the party – nonetheless this is just too good not to include) Helping your Children Learn to Love to Read – absolutely awesome!
Feel all warm and fuzzy inside by reading Sixteen Years Ago Today from Mostly Yummy Mummy – it’s lovely.
Hard to believe September’s over already, huh? The nights are drawing in (boo, hiss); it keeps on raining (more boos and hisses). So grab yourself a lovely cuppa (or possibly something stronger) and I’ll take you through my favourite posts for the month of September…
First up – the wonderful Mummy Zen shares 10 indoor activities for toddlers – and not a moment too soon – nasty old weather!
Over on the Survival Guide for Rookie Moms, Erica & Lorraine share a post about their experiences when they found out at their 33 week scan that their baby had a cleft lip in Why Us?
Goodness – hasn’t August just flown by? I do hope you’ve all had a wonderful time over the Summer. At Perform, we’ve been super-busy preparing for the Autumn term and getting plans in place to open new schools. Plus, following a new piece of research from Save The Children about the importance of after school activities, Perform appeared on the BBC (NB apologies – for some reason the sound is a little out of sync on this video):
Sally Copley, head of UK policy at Save the Children said “Children who do after-school activities have more confidence, see the world in different ways, have a stronger sense of identity – and this ultimately translates into doing better in exams and getting a better job. “
Hello and welcome to this month in the blogosphere – July 2010 edition.
Essentially it’s a round up post of anything and everything which has made me inadvertently snort tea out of my nostrils, inspired me, made me cry or is otherwise note-worthy. I’m hoping to make this a monthly feature so if you’ve any suggestions for future inclusions please contact me via twitter or email me – lucyquickk (at) googlemail (dot) com – (oh and yes, that’s right – two ks – my proper name was already taken – I’m always late to the party).
So, got your tea / coffee / wine / G & T at the ready? Let’s get stuck in:
First up is Positive Thoughts for Annie by MummyZen – a post which is both so sad and yet so inspiring it’s a must read. I’m sure you’ll all join me in sending some super-strength positive thoughts Annie’s way.
