Lucy Quick has almost 20 years experience working with children of all ages to develop their confidence, concentration, coordination and communication skills.
She initially worked as a professional actress in numerous productions such as Oliver! (London Palladium), Pirates Of Penzance (Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, West Yorkshire playhouse and tour), A Midsummer Night’s Dream, All’s Well That Ends Well , Kiss me Kate (all Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre), Sunday In The Park With George (Leicester Haymarket), The Boyfriend (York Theatre Royal and tour) and Hot Stuff (Leicester Haymarket).
During this time she was also working extensively with children at a variety of children’s drama schools and, in 2000, she set up Perform with Will Barnett. The aim was to use performing arts games, exercises and materials to help boost child development rather than teach rigorous technique, require endless memorisation or awkward steps. With smaller classes and more individual attention, she believed that children would be able to grow and develop at their own pace while Perform focused on the 4 Cs – confidence, concentration, communication and coordination.
Starting with two schools in January 2000, Perform has now grown to almost 200 venues and encompasses Perform for 4-8s, Mini Ps for 3 month – 3 year olds and Perform Plus for 8-12s as well as party activities and a thriving programme of workshops in primary schools – Perform4Schools. New products are being developed all the time.
Lucy is married with two young children – Tom and Lizzy.
